Already have a site? Book a Refresh Day!

A Refresh Day is a single, focused day of design work on the site you already have—whether you need launch-day touch-ups, a few key pages redesigned, or a homepage that finally matches your latest book. Fixed price, fixed scope, done in a day. Perfect when your site is mostly fine but needs to be launch-ready fast.

Pricing Note: Every site is quoted after a free consultation, because page count, features, and content readiness all shape the final number. Starting prices reflect a typical project at each tier; sites with stores, complex functionality, or extensive content may run higher. You own your domain and hosting accounts directly—those subscriptions are billed by the platform, not by Novel Notion Creative. We’ll walk through every cost before you commit.

Common Questions About Author Website Design Plans

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.

Don’t see your question answered here? Contact us or see our full FAQ.

Which platform will my site be built on?

For most authors, we recommend and build on Squarespace—it handles its own hosting, security, backups, and updates, so you’re never on the hook for the technical upkeep. If you’re already committed to WordPress, we can work there too; we’ll talk through the tradeoffs at your consultation and point you to whichever fits how hands-on you want to be.

Do I need to have my content ready before we start?

Yes, and this is the single biggest thing that keeps a project on schedule. You provide your final text and images (book covers, author photo, bio, buy links) by an agreed date. If content isn’t ready within 30 days of that milestone, the project pauses until it is—so the more you have lined up before we begin, the faster your site goes live.

Who owns my domain and website?

You do, completely, from day one. Your domain and your platform subscription are registered in your name and your account—never under ours. When the project’s done, the final design and all your content are yours. We retain only the right to show the finished work in our portfolio.

Can I update the site myself after launch?

Yes! We build on platforms you can manage yourself, and every project ends with a handoff package—short walkthrough videos for the updates authors make most: adding a book, posting a tour stop, writing a blog post. You won’t need a developer for everyday changes.

What if I need help after launch?

Most authors don’t need us between books—but when you do, there are two easy options. You can book one-off help at our hourly rate, or set up a monthly care plan for ongoing peace of mind.

What does “launched” mean—when is the project done?

We work to a launch-readiness checklist: every page reviewed, links tested, forms working, mobile checked, basic SEO in place. When that’s signed off on and your site is live, the project is complete, and your included post-launch support window (14 or 30 days, depending on your package) begins.

Will my site rank on Google?

We set up the on-page foundations—page titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, clean structure, and a sitemap—so search engines can find and understand your site. Rankings themselves depend on factors no designer controls (competition, content, time), so we don’t promise positions; we promise the groundwork done right.

How does payment work?

Web projects are billed in three parts: 50% deposit to book your spot and begin, 25% at design approval, and 25% at launch. The deposit holds your place in the schedule and is non-refundable.
